Game Format and Rules

  • Game Duration: Four stop clock quarters, each lasting 7 minutes.
  • Warm-up Time: A minimum of 5 minutes, depending on the schedule.
  • Halftime: 5 minutes long
  • Overtime: 3 minutes long

Clock Rules

  • Running Clock: If a team leads by 25 or more points entering the 4th quarter, the game clock will run continuously, stopping only during timeouts. The clock will continue to run even if the point deficit falls below 25 during the 4th quarter.

Timeouts

  • Total Timeouts: 5 per team (3 x 60-second timeouts, 2 x 30-second timeouts).
  • Timeouts in Overtime: Each team receives one extra timeout for the overtime period, regardless of how many timeouts they had left from the regular game.

Roster and Player Eligibility

  • Minimum Players: A team must have at least 5 players to start a game. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a forfeit.
  • Roster Compliance: Players must be on the submitted roster. Non-roster players will result in an automatic forfeit.
  • Player Movement: A player may move up a division within the same program but cannot move down or play for a different team in the same division.

Sportsmanship and Conduct

  • Taunting: Technical fouls will be issued for players who taunt opponents after making a play of any kind.
  • Technical Fouls:
    • If a player receives a technical foul, they are expected to be substituted out for the coaching staff to address the behavior.
    • If a coach receives a technical foul, they lose the privilege to stand and coach, and must remain seated on the bench for the remainder of the game.
  • Coach Ejections:
    • If a coach receives two technical fouls during a game, they will be ejected from that game.
    • Upon ejection, the coach must exit the building immediately. The gym supervisor will escort them out if necessary. The coach will not be allowed to coach for the remainder of that day and will also be suspended for the following weekend.
  • Player Ejections:
    • If a player receives two technical fouls in a single game or is ejected from the game, they will be suspended for the next scheduled game.
      • If a player is ejected, they must remain on the bench with their team for the duration of the game.

Game Administration

  • Home Team: The team listed second is considered the home team.
    • During tournament play, the higher seed will be considered the home team.

  • Ball Size:
    • 8th and 7th Grades: 29.5" ball
    • 6th Grade: 28.5" ball
